The difference between education and schooling.

Education and schooling are different concepts. Each one of them has its own meaning which is far different from the other. On one hand, schooling means the process of receiving systematic instructions and it is an organized process of teaching/ learning which typically takes place in school. It is the same as indoctrination in which students are being taught a set of beliefs uncritically. It ensures that students are equipped with knowledge of theories, models, concepts, facts, figures and certain physical skills. Students are taught as if they were robots in school. That is to say, schooling does not let students use their common sense to analyze and interpret concepts, rather program students to be integrated into the global capitalist system and acquire the skills to serve it and defend it.

On the other hand, education can take place anywhere; it can happen at home, school, on the streets, on TV, etc. Education is what a person knows and what he or she can do. Education is an important part of raising children and preparing them to live a happy and successful life. Many people have been to school but they are not educated, they are just being exposed to a certain type of schooling. An educated person is one who has the ability to think creatively, innovatively, critically and independently with the ability to connect.
