Can a text perceive reality as it is?

It is of paramount importance to state that the literary text cannot transmits reality to the reader. Within the field of Criticism, we can proclaim that not only the text which gives and shares meaning, but the reader, himself, could access to reality based on his or her own experience in life. Being so, the text as not the only source of reality, but the readers will perceive reality based on their experiences.

To begin with, the text can be considered as the tool which will lead us, as readers or as persevere to know what is there in the text. As it appears, the writer have just written the text in order to prevail rich information and knowledge to us, but it needs to be noted that the text sometimes shares information which is not in writer's mind. It means that the text has its own saying in the field of Criticism. It is the text which contains many different components which related to the field of linguistics- such as, phonemes, morphemes ect., but it cannot transfer reality to us, as readers, as it is.

Accordingly, with the earlier in mind, it is necessary to grasp an essential point which is that the text cannot give us reality as it is in the text, but we need to understand deeply and clearly what is there in the text. Based on this assumption, the reader can understand the text based on his experience in life. He or she will undoubtedly understand that text based on his or her views, attitudes, and beliefs. For instance, the way in which I will understand beautifully the story of *the Old Man and the sea* is not the way that he or she will tantalisingly understand it or the way I can see the novel of *Great Gatsby*, presumably, it is another way that other people will see it. It is worth noting that we cannot only based on our assumption as readers in order to understand the text but the text, itself, could share with us meaning, but we have to understand it from our own experience in life.

From here, several points could be concluded that the text cannot stand on its own; in other words, Text cannot transfer reality to the reader as it is, but the readers should understand the text deeply and efficiently in order to find out that reality. As a final question, if we consider text as the source of meaning or the reader as the source of meaning, but can we consider author as the source of meaning?
