The role of ICT in the field of teaching.

ICT can help manage time, space and instruction. That is, it simlifies the way of teaching, and it gears the teacher to use ICT in the class-room effectively and creatively. This being the case, ICT helps the teachers to teach other skills in more efficient way, and it helps them to choose the materials and to access students’knowledge.

To start clearly the discussion about using ICT in the class-room in order to teach many skills- such as, speaking and listening. Obviously, in order to teach speaking and listening, it requires the use of ICT in the class-room e.g., the teacher might use a video or an audio in order to develop his or her students’ speaking or listening skills ; that is, the students will hear how the native speakers pronounce words efficiently and, at the same time, how words are supposed to be spoken. Through this process of listening and knowing how words are pronounced, the students will authomatically know how to develop their speaking and listening skills. Accordingly, with the rise of technology ; the teachers will use it in the classs-room and per se transform education to a better place.

With the earlier in mind, it is of paramount importance to know that ICT also helps many teachers to choose the materials that should be used in the classroom. Generally enough, through using ICT which contains a bunch of materials, the teacher will choose easily another material which can develop his or her students’skills and the ability to produce the language. In the same vein, when the teacher uses ICT in the classroom, the students will better understand the language. Following Jack C.  Richards who succinctly proclaims that ICT will help novice teachers to be a very flexible teachers or i.e., a fully- fledged teachers.

It is quite clear by now that the use of ICT in the classroom, as it appears, can help many teachers to access their students’ knowledge. All the way throughout, it helps the teachers to put their students in the context and, in this way, to ceate a suitable environment for learning, a  formal study of language rules. As I referred to previously, ICT could help the teachers to access their students knowledge and to open up their prior- knowledge. The teachers could use ICT for assessment- for example, in diagnostic assessment and in continuous assessment.

In a few words, ICT has multiple ways which all can help and serve the field of teaching . Overall, it will lead the teachers to develop their students’skills and to access them ; it will also gear the teachers to teach many skills- such as,  speaking and listening and to choose the materials which will encourage students to learn.
